Process Lasso v5.0

Process Lasso is NOT yet another task manager; it is a process optimization and automation utility. One of Process Lasso's most popular features is a unique technology called ProBalance (Process Balance) that will improve your PC's responsiveness and stability through process priority optimization. Windows, by design, allows programs to monopolize your CPU without sufficient restraint -- leading to hangs and micro-lags. ProBalance intelligently adjusts the priorities of running programs on-demand so that badly behaved processes won't negatively impact the responsiveness of your PC. It does this not by raising process priorities, but instead by temporarily lowering the priorities of background processes that may be interfering with foreground responsiveness.

In addition to ProBalance, there are countless features allowing the user to take full automated control of the processes on their PC. You can have a wide range operations performed, or settings applied, each time a process is run. You can choose at what priority processes should run, and which CPUs should be assigned to them. You can also disallow certain processes from running, log all processes run, automatically restart processes when they terminate or reach a resource consumption threshold, limit the number of instances, and much more. You can even indicate processes that should induce entrance into the High Performance power scheme and/or prevent the PC from sleeping. A gaming mode allows for easy process priority optimization for avid gamers.

Version 5 adds many features, including I/O Priorities (default and current), Default Power Schemes, HyperThreaded Core Avoidance, Automated Updates, and much more.

Show child/parent proceess relationship

Change ID to PID in the process window, to make it the same name as in the lower window, and add a child/parent process relationship in the PID column in the form of PID/PPID.

Have the 'Activate software' button go away after activation

'Help' > 'Activate software' button remains after successful activation, leaving one to wonder if it really is activated ('Help' > 'About' confirms that it is). It would be helpful if this button were removed or 'disabled' once activated.

I found Process Lasso useful, but I want to comment on the setup procedure. It provides lots of options, but always says, 'Confused? Just hit NEXT and everything will work.' What a wonderful handholding for people who really don't know what option

I think it would be helpful to have a log of all processes that have run, even the inactive ones. For example, the other day, I had a process running called setup.exe. It completely finished & disappeared off the process list before I had a chance

Show A Periodic Report Card For System Activities And Benefits Derived From Having Pro-Balance and Other Settings Turned On. Your Product Otherwise is Excellent, Well Done!

There are many terms used that the average user does not know or understand. An explanation of these toogle variables would be of benefit as a report card so the user knows that the program is doing a great job in the background.

CONFIGURE DEFAULT PRIORITIES - Allow unique name for configuring default priorities so that one can create more than one default priorities for various occasions and use them as required.

The Options menu - CONFIGURE DEFAULT PRIORITIES should have an option to give a name or code to the list of Process name added with their own unique "Default priority when launched" option. For example, High or A list will have following:...

How about a CPU/GPU temperature reading along with the others in the system tray?

When we hover over the systray icon, we get a nice reading of RAM/CPU% utilization. Since cooling has become an issue in modern systems, how about monitoring CPU/GPU temps for systems that have this ability?
